Confessions of a Newlywed

For all you brides out there, this one’s for you! I had the pleasure of interviewing Michelle Medeiros, married April 14, 2012, to bring you some fantastic, pertinent advice on what not to do, what TO do, and just for entertainment’s sake! The best part for you all? She was not a client of mine, so this is un-biased straight-from-the-heart sharing 🙂 Enjoy!

Michelle and Calvin's wedding

Share the funniest story from your wedding day.

Adventures of the Blue Corset!! My new sister-in-law and Matron of Honor gave me a blue corset to wear under my dress (blue, because it’s my husband’s favorite color). I was so nervous that it was going to show through my dress! Thankfully it didn’t, however when I sat down, my dress slipped down a little and Calvin my husband caught a glimpse of it! He got so excited and thanked me for the sneak-peek!

If the first story was a little too naughty…here is the second funniest story! When I tossed my bouquet I threw it so far past the girls waiting to catch it, that it was a mad dash to pick it up. My 6 year old flower girl ended up with the bouquet. It was adorable.

What was your favorite thing about the wedding day?

My favorite thing about our wedding day was the sheer emotion both my now-husband and I had. When we saw each other for the first time as my father walked me down the aisle, we locked eyes and both shared happy tears! Throughout the entire ceremony, no one else mattered. It was as though we were alone in the church. I have never felt so loved and truly loved a moment any more.

What is your biggest regret either for the day or for planning?

The biggest regret I have about being a DIY Bride was that it meant that my family also had to be my so-called staff for the day.

What about something you didn’t seem coming and should have been worried about?

I didn’t see coming the issue of parking. Our guests ended up having to walk almost a mile to get to the Church.  A coordinator would have had the experience to notice something like that!

Share one thing you were stressed about before the day and shouldn’t have been.

The weather! It was such a beautiful day that we were able to move the reception outside and it was incredibly wonderful!

Michelle has more fun things to share but you’ll have to wait until next week! Don’t forget to check back on Tuesday for part two!
